On the face of
it, a naked
boy armed
with a bow
and arrow is
not the ideal business guru but more a case for intervention by the authorities. However, Cupid's CV is impressive, if specialised. His only function, other than fiddling around with various toys, is to make people fall in love — and at that, he's extremely successful (although apparently not so successful that he can afford clothes). He's also proof that opposites do indeed attract, since his parents are Venus, goddess of love, and Mars, god of war, and the fact that those two got together surely gives hope to all of us. Especially authors of books about relationships between men and women. When not using hapless people for archery practice, he spends his time playing with a hoop, catching butterflies and generally behaving like a child.

Confusingly though, he is also an adult on occasion and, as the literal father of hedonism — by virtue of being the parent of Hedone — is well-placed to run your hospitality and events department, providing he doesn't invite uncle Bacchus to run the bar. In that case you might as well advertise the entire thing on Facebook and prepare to have your venue smashed up.

As a negotiating tool he is invaluable. Don't have him just sitting there through the talks (a bit off-putting), but if things look like they're going wrong, whisk him in and get him to shoot the other side before running away. The meeting will immediately become a huge love-in and a deal will be done. That's assuming that he actually shoots the right people of course. The HR warning on Cupid though is that he can be fickle and is prone to making mischief for his own enjoyment. He is,
after all, still a child, and the corporate naughty step might get a lot of use.

This month Cupid will be working overtime, having been hired by the marketing department of relationship conglomerate St Valentine's. And let's face it, his licensing income must be enormous.
